Half Day City Tour

A fine introduction to one of the most beautiful and exciting cities in the world starting at the famous beach districts of Leblon, Ipanema and Copacabana.  We’ll take you around Botafogo Harbor where the exclusive Rio Yacht Club is located and show you your first sight of Sugar Loaf Mountain.  Rounding the bend, we come into Flamengo Park - one of Burle Marx’s famous landscaping achievements where we make a stop for picture taking.  The downtown business district is next with its contrasts of colonial and modern architecture.  You’ll see the Municipal Theater - an exact replica of the Paris Opera House, the National Library, the Fine Arts Museum and the modern, cone-shaped Metropolitan Cathedral, where we will stop for a visit.   Return is via the Maracanã Soccer Stadium, largest in the world, the Rebouças Tunnel, the longest inner-city tunnel in the world, past the Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon with its residential district and the Botanical Gardens with its towering royal palms.

Half Day Samba City including Maracanã

A fine introduction to one of the most beautiful and exciting cities in the world starting at the famous beach districts of Leblon, Ipanema and Copacabana. We will visit the brand new Samba City which presents the making-of Rio’s Samba Parades, where workshops turn out a steady stream of elaborate floats and costumes. The Samba Schools of Rio de Janeiro offer behind-the-scenes glimpses of the world’s greatest street pageant at the largest art and entertainment complex in Brazil. Built by the Mayor’s Office in the Old Rio Docklands, Samba City sparkles all year long with Carnival thrills. After Samba City we will proceed to visit the Maracanã Stadium, largest in the world. HALF DAY SUGAR LOAF TOUR

Duration: 4 hours
Drive along the world famous beaches of Leblon, Ipanema and Copacabana, along the Flamengo Park, Botafogo Harbor, until reaching the Urca District where you will take a thrilling cable-car ride to the top of spectacular Sugar Loaf Mountain, 1200 feet of sheer rock at the bottle-neck entrance of Guanabara Bay. Ascent is made in two stages: first to the top of the Urca Hill and then to the Summit of Sugar Loaf Mountain, for a breathtaking 360 degree view of Rio, Guanabara Bay, the city of Niteroi and the blue waters of the Atlantic Ocean.

Corcovado, Christ the Redeemer Statue

Including a ride through some of Rio’s best beach districts, the picturesque Lagoa residential area, Humaitá, Botafogo Harbor and the Laranjeiras sector, where the Corcovado Railway Station is located.  The ascent is via cogwheel train, which has its final stop near the top of Corcovado Mountain - 2,400 feet above the city and a few flights of steps away from the 125 foot statue of Christ the Redeemer offering an overwhelming view of the city of Rio and its surroundings.

A scenic drive up the Organ Mountains surrounding Guanabara Bay to the picturesque European-like city of Petropolis - The “Imperial City”, once the summer resort city of Pedro II, the last Emperor of Brazil.  This excursion includes a visit to the historic Cathedral followed by lunch at one of Petropolis’ many restaurants, a visit to the Imperial Museum - housing today one of the finest collections of furniture, china and jewels from the Imperial court and the house of Santos Dumont - considered by Brazilians as the “Father of Aviation”. An unforgettable evening of great food and fun that includes an “all-you-can-eat” scrumptious meal of fine barbecued meats, pork, sausages, chicken and turkey, served in the unique "rodizio" style: the waiters circulate around the tables slicing the meats off individual skewers directly onto everyone's plate. Meanwhile other waiters are constantly replenishing accompanying dishes of rice, french fries, fried onion rings and fried bananas. Depart from your hotel around 07:30 pm and proceed to the Old Rio Docklands where is located the Samba City, to watch a unique showcase for the vibrant magic that makes Rio the world’s Carnival Capital.
Learn how floats and costumes are made and discover unusual instruments that set the pace for the parades.
Watch a great show featuring international hit sambas, with lovely mulatas, twirling baianas and courtly banner-bearers with their elegant escorts!
After the show, slip into a Carnival costume and dance to the driving beat of the bateria (drums), just like the Sambodrome! These are memories to treasure forever…

Jeep Tour To Corcovado & Tijuca Rain Forest

Depart hotel in open jeeps for a ride through some of Rio’s famous beach districts, the picturesque Lagoa residential area, through the Tijuca Forest to the top of Corcovado Mountain -- 2,400 feet above the city, and steps away from the 125 foot statue of Christ the Redeemer. Macuco Rio Fast Boat – Cagarras Islands

Iguassu

Guided Walking Tour of the Brazilian Side of Falls

After check in at the hotel, your tour escort will set a convenient time for this tour which starts in front of the Hotel das Cataratas.  Descent on foot the walkways of the National Park while enjoying breathtaking views of the Iguassu Falls located on the border of Brazil and Argentina where the Iguassu River drops into a gigantic horseshoe canyon.  Continue to the panoramic elevator and lookout point for picture taking and to experience the roaring thunder and majestic exuberance of the falls. 
Proceed by coach to the National Park to descend the walkways while enjoying breathtaking views of the Iguassu Falls located on the border of Brazil and Argentina where the Iguassu River drops into a gigantic horseshoe canyon.  Continue to the panoramic elevator (optional) and lookout point for picture taking and to experience the roaring thunder and majestic exuberance of the falls.

Tour of the Argentine Side of the Falls

Cross the Tancredo Neves bridge, after going through international customs control, then on to the Argentine National Park.  Visit starts at Porto Canoas with access to the majestic Devil’s Throat.  Next visit the upper Argentine Falls, including the San Martin Falls.  On your return, stop at the Argentine shopping district and the three borders mark, where Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay meet.

Tour to Itaipu Dam

Situated on the Paraná River, Itaipu was built at the cost of USD$15 billion and is considered the largest hydroelectric installation in the world.  This bilateral project is the result of a treaty signed between Brazil and Paraguay in April 1973.  With the construction of the dam, a large reservoir, Lake Itaipu, was created with a surface area of 900 square miles containing 29 trillion liters of water and its shores touching on both Brazil and Paraguay.  Deeply concerned with the preservation of the environment, the Itaipu Binacional Company, since the beginning, conducted all necessary investigations for adoption of measures designed to protect the flora, fauna and archeological heritage of the region and has created the Ecomuseum, the first of Latin America.  The tour starts with a drive through the city of Foz do Iguassu continuing on to the Public Relations Center of the Dam located 35 km from Foz.  Assist a 30 minute video showing the different phases of the construction from the beginning to the present stage.  Visit to strategic points along the dam for photographs.

Tour to the Bird Park

Located on the Cataratas Highway, just 100 meters from the entrance to the National Park is the Bird Park. Of world class standard, the park is situated in 5 hectares of native subtropical forest. It offers tourists, ecologists, photographers and ornithologists an opportunity to enter huge 8 meter high forest aviaries to study and photograph birds in their natural habitat without the restriction of netting and cages. There are over 800 birds, both indigenous and from other continents. Exciting new exhibits show caiman, snakes, humming birds and butterflies. 

Macuco Jungle Safari & Boat Ride.

From your hotel, we transfer to the Macuco Trail located within the Iguassu National Park where we board jeeps for a 3 km ride through the rain forest.  Get to know several different species of sub-tropical plants and trees, including orchids and the heart of palm which grows in abundance in this forest.  Continue for a 600 meter walk to the picturesque Macuco Falls, hidden in the forested canyon.  The trail brings us to the banks of the Iguassu Canyon where we board twin-engine inflatable boats, specially designed for the local river conditions.  We then cruise up into Iguassu Canyon while shooting the rapids to the very base of the majestic waterfalls.  As the experienced pilot maneuvers in the midst of the falls themselves, you will experience the thrill of a different and breathtaking view of the falls -- an adventure never to be forgotten.

Dinner & Show at Rafain

Enjoy a "gaucho" barbecue dinner with a great salad bar and selected cuts of meat served on to rustic carving stations straight from the charcoals.  Throughout dinner enjoy a Latin American floor show presenting the various folkloric dances and songs from the various South American countries.  A night of fun and gaucho tradition long to be remembered

Half Day Panoramical City Tour (Lower City

Duration 9 hours
The lower city tour takes us to the quiet waters of the Itapagipe Peninsula where the first holiday residences were built.  Now a peaceful family district, life moves at a slower pace than the bustling upper city. Fishermen fish from dug out canoes, locals  collect shell fish at low tide, schooners are at anchor, all protected by the famous Bonfim church, one of the most important churches of pilgrimage in Brazil and deeply syncretised with the Candomblé. (visit). We continue to the Monserrat district with its panoramic view of the city and on to the Mercado Modelo, a thriving market for local artifacts. It's time to bargain!
Please note that the Church of Bonfim is closed on Mondays.

Half Day Historical City Tour (Upper City)

Duration: 9 hours
We start in the modern suburb of Barra at the mouth of the Bay with it’s famous lighthouse and make our slowly by car to the old historical section of town, the Pelorinho the largest and best preserved complex of colonial architecture in the Americas.  We stroll through the narrow, bustling streets lined with buildings in pastel shades of an age gone by, soaking in the sights and sounds of this vibrant city. We visit the church of São Francisco with its exuberant gold-leafed Baroque interior and the Pelourinho square, the heart of the old town.  We stop in one of the many squares refreshments (coconut water, mineral water, soft drink or beer) served by baianas in typical costume.  This tour shows two distinct aspects of Salvador, the new and the old, concentrating on the early expansion of the city and is a very good orientation for those wishing to further explore the city.

Half Day African Heritage Oriented City Tour

Duration: 3 hours
The traditional Historical city tour the Pelourinho section including visits to the Afro Brazilian Museum which traces the links between Africa and Bahia and houses a beautiful collection of carvings in cedar wood done by Salvador’s finest artist, Carybé.  The carvings portray the main orixás in the Candomblé pantheon of deities. We visit the Casa do Benin, where we further explore the close ties between Bahia and Africa. The church of Nossa Senhora do Rosário dos Pretos, a church with very close links with the Candomblé and which still draws a mainly Black congregation.  The church was built by brotherhood of ex-slaves over a period of almost 100 years with very little resources.  We visit the Sociedade Protetora dos Desvalidos to see how this organization still works in the community.  We look in on artists and sculptors, most of them self-taught, as they work in the various styles peculiar to Salvador

Bahia By Night at Solar do Unhão

Duration: 4 hours
The show takes place in the 18th century colonial complex Solar do Unhão which had its own church, manor house and slaves quarters. The show takes place in the old stockrooms and is a showcase of the different African traditions still so much alive in Bahia.
We will see the sacred dances of the Candomblé; the maculelê, a stick and sword dance from the cane fields; the dance of the caboclo, an Amerindian hunting dance; capoeira, a martial art/dance of Angolan origin and the samba de roda, a spinning, swirling version of this exuberant national dance.
Dinner is a buffet with a wide selection of local and international dishes.
Show time 21:00. Duration of show: 01 hour 15mins approx.
Solar do Unhão is closed Sundays.

Pelourinho By Night with dinner at UAUA

Duration: 4 hours
The mammoth restoration of the historical Pelourinho district has resulted in a new lease of nightlife to this, the largest complex of colonial architecture in the America's. We have dinner in one of the many first class restaurants in the area – UAUA Restaurant. After dinner, stroll the busy streets where many of the bars offer live music. Busiest on Tuesdays and the weekends.

Olodum Rehearsal

Duration: 5 hours
Every Tuesday evening, the Pelourinho area resounds to the sound of the repique and surdo drums of the many drumming troupes of Salvador. No group is more famous than the Olodum, a powerhouse percussion ensemble that has traveled extensively abroad. We attend the rehearsal where the dances and songs for the coming carnival are rehearsed to the infectious samba-reggae rhythm. Later, we stroll through the streets to see the other activities taking place and have dinner in one of the many first class restaurants in the area.
This is a taste of Carnival in Salvador, the largest participatory carnival in the world. The time is right for dancing in the streets! Entrance fee to Olodum rehearsal is not included and vary accordingly to the invited artist of the night.

Full Day Praia do Forte including lunch

Praia do Forte is a quiet fishing village 80 kms north of Salvador and home to some of the best beaches in Bahia.
The road to Praia do Forte (Coconut Highway) takes us to the small villages and deserted beaches of the North Coast. As an option we can visit the Sapiranga reserve with its (restinga) vegetation, a delicate ecosystem that survives on a sandy soil. We visit the ruins of the imposing castle (1556) which gives the area its name. From here we have a panoramic view of the northern coastline. We visit the headquarters of the TAMAR Project, the Brazilian sea turtle preservation project. Then it's time for lunch and a laze in the sun (or shade!) and a swim in the warm waters of these pristine beaches. Beverages during lunch are not included and will be charged on consumption.

Full Day Schooner Cruise including lunch

Duration: 9 hours
We board a private schooner for a day on the calm waters and sandy beaches of the magnificent Bahia de Todos os Santos bay.  We visit two of the 36 islands, Frades and Itaparica Islands.  Our first stop is the island where we will anchor at a deserted beach, swim, relax and take in the sun for 1 ½ hours approx.  We continue to Itaparica Island for a full buffet lunch.
After lunch, a short walking tour of the town of Itaparica, return to the boat for the trip to Salvador with tropical setting sun flooding the bay, and the city skyline in its glow.

Full Day Cachoeira Country Ride with lunch

We leave the city behind and drive through the oldest farmland in Brazil. This is the land of sugar cane and tobacco plantations, peaceful colonial towns and busy country markets. We visit an experimental cacao plantation. Nearby we stop at a small but self-sufficient farmstead with its own manioc flour mill and have a great insight into rural life in Brazil.
We also visit the Sisterhood of the Boa Morte, a sorority which traces its origins back to the time of slavery. A journey back in time to the Brazil of yesteryear!

Morning City Tour

Duration: 3 hours
A sightseeing trip through the city visiting the most interesting monuments and historical places such as the Museum of Natural History, the Indian Museum as well as passing in front of the Rio Negro Palace.  Continue on through the old city and to the Customs House, the Cathedral and Opera House, built at the end of the 19th century during the Manaus Rubber Boom era.  Note:  Opera House is closed on Mondays and the Indian Museum is closed on Sundays and holidays.

Tour in a regional boat visiting the Meeting of the Waters. This spectacle is where the Negro River (with its black water) meets with Solimões River (creamy water) run side by side for 8Km without mixing, forming the Amazon River.

Piranha Fishing and Alligator Spotting Tour

Departure in native canoes accompanied by your native guide to explore the various narrow creeks (igarapés) and flooded forests (igapós) in the nearby region offering fascinating views of the forest.  Visit to a native village where the habits of the typical “caboclo” families can be observed.  For those wishing to try their luck at fishing, experience the opportunity of catching the fierce piranhas.
