All-Inclusive Vacations

Why All-Inclusive vacations & resorts are a great value

The popularity of all-inclusive resorts has skyrocketed in the past 5 years. They offer programs and services that appeal to even the most discerning vacationer. All-inclusive vacations and resorts come in all shapes and sizes, from ultra-luxurious mega-resorts to quaint, boutique-style hotels.

All-inclusive resorts offer something for the whole family, from organized activities and games for the kids, to nightly entertainment and adult beverages for the grown-ups. Many offer fun and unique activities each day, while others let you sit back and relax, without pressure to do anything. You won't go hungry at an all-inclusive either, as most have unlimited meals and snacks. All of these inclusions come with the convenience of paying one straightforward, upfront price.

If a vacation where you don't have to think about how much money you should bring,—or what kinds of things you'll do once you get there—sounds good, an all-inclusive resort is for you.

Here's what's usually included (ask about your particular resort, or when browsing our website, click on the Property Info tab on the resort's page for a rating):

Mexico, Costa Rica, and
the Caribbean

Perhaps the most pampering all-inclusive experiences are in Mexico, Costa Rica, and the Caribbean. The warm tropical air cradles you while aquamarine waters soothe the soul. Couple that with unparalleled services and accommodations at an all-inclusive resort, and you'll have a match made in heaven.

Costa Rica:

The Caribbean:

Full All-Inclusive: Includes unlimited meals, snacks, and beverages; wide variety of daily activities; some watersports (nonmotorized or motorized) depending on the resort); taxes; and gratuities. Many properties may include nightly entertainment and/or theme evenings, and some offer a combination of buffet dining and one or more restaurant dining experiences.

Standard All-Inclusive: Includes unlimited meals, snacks, and beverages; taxes; and gratuities with limited facilities, services, and activities. Primarily a buffet dining experience; may offer separate restaurant facilities on a limited basis.

Modest All-Inclusive: Includes unlimited meals and beverages, taxes, and gratuities. Primarily buffet dining offered.

Spa treatments, off-site tours, phone calls, and items purchased at the gift shop are not included in all-inclusive options.

A few other notes on All-Inclusive resorts:

  • You will get the house wine with your dinner, but you can often ask for and/or purchase a specific wine. Also, sometimes only domestic or local liquor is included, so if you're in Mexico, for example, you may have to pay extra for a Miller beer instead of a Modelo or Presidente.
  • Some resorts require reservations for meals at select restaurants on site.
  • An added bonus of choosing the all-inclusive option is the ability to visit more than just your home resort. Many resorts offer the ability to visit sister properties, and enjoy their pools, restaurants, fitness centers, beaches, etc., all for the same cost.
