Indianapolis, the nation's 12th largest city and lovingly known as the Crossroads of America, has gone through a dramatic revitalization and stunning renaissance in the past few years. Museums are bigger and better than ever, a thriving downtown is attracting more visitors, and sporting events continue to reign supreme.

This historical city has more memorials than any other U.S. city, except for Washington, D.C., and Monument Circle is the main attraction. Standing a soaring 32 stories high, the observation tower provides a panoramic view of the city skyline.

On a summer day, one of the best places to be is White River State Park. Nestled in the middle of downtown, the park is home to nearly 4,000 animals.

And of course, there's the Indianapolis Motor Speedway which hosts the two largest single-day sporting events in the world - the Indianapolis 500 and the Brickyard 400 - and the largest Formula One race in the world, the United States Grand Prix. Onsite is the Hall of Fame Museum for race lovers.

Shopping can be found at Circle Centre, home to 100 specialty stores and a Nordstrom department store. Dining runs the gamut from well-known chain restaurants to local, independent establishments.
