It includes a legal declaration of your freedom to marry your partner, traditional marriage ceremony questions from the Minister, and a ring exchange section. You may add your own personal vows to the ceremony; to do so, provide the wedding coordinator with a copy of them on arrival.

Terms & Conditions –

Couples must be on the island at least 2 business days prior to the ceremony. Documentation needed for U.S. citizens: Certified copy of birth certificate, copy of passport, copy of divorce papers if divorced or death certificate if widowed, and parents legal consent if under 21.

Instructions –

Once the Romance travel specialist confirms the wedding package, the clients need to contact the hotel directly to organize the details of their wedding, at: 1-876-953-2485 and ask for Nikki Nicholson-Thompson or by email at nnicholson@sunspreejam.com.

The documentation listed below needs to be sent via fax to 1-876-953-9480.

Good to know –

All paperwork is handled by the hotel. During the wedding the couple will be required to sign three Marriage Registers, in addition to the signature of their witnesses (two will be provided, in the event the couple does not have their own), and the Ministers signature. The Minister will then give the couple one of the Marriage Registers known as the Bridal copy and the other two will be used to apply for their Marriage Certificate. This is a legal document with a raised seal and the Jamaican Coat of Arms and is legal worldwide. This Certificate takes some time to be processed and will be mailed to the couple. Please provide the wedding coordinator with a proper address to send the document.

BRING ALL ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS with you to the resort.

• Riu Hotels requires couples to be in the destination for 3 full business days prior to the ceremony date. Arrival day does not count as a business day.
• A deposit of $250 is due at the time of booking
• A $250 penalty will be charged for weddings cancelled within 90 days of the confirmed wedding date

• Non-hotel guest policy: Wedding guests who are not staying at Riu Montego Bay are allowed to attend the wedding ceremony, but will be required to purchase a day pass which includes access to the full all-inclusive features of the hotel for the day. The cost of a day pass ranges between $50 - $100 USD per person. Ask your wedding coordinator for an up-to-date list of prices.
• Riu Hotels requires that 80% of guests attending the wedding ceremony must be staying at Riu Montego Bay
• A la carte upgrades from pre-packaged wedding ceremony: Available for purchase directly from wedding coordinator

Requirements - Getting married in Jamaica:

• Bride, groom, and witnesses (if required) need to be at the destination at least 2 days (48 hours) prior the ceremony
• Civil ceremony is performed by a Judge; Catholic ceremonies are not performed in Jamaica
• Complimentary wedding with minimum purchase. To qualify for a complimentary wedding, a total of 5 rooms must be purchased through the Romance program, including the wedding couple's room, at least 45 days prior to departure. Wedding couple must provide names and/or reservation numbers of additional rooms to their booking agent 45 days prior to departure.
• Couples 17 years of age and under require parental approval.
• Completed marriage application (provided at hotel)
• Valid passports
• Certified copy of birth certificates (original, Apostilled and must be translated into Spanish)
• Legal documentation of adoption or name change if applicable
• Divorced individuals must provide a certified copy of the divorce decree.
• Widowed individuals must provide a certified copy of the former spouse's death certificate.
• Names on passport and birth certificate must match. This name will also be used as the maiden name on the wedding application.

• Birth certificates, name change, adoption, divorce decree, and death certificate all require an Apostille seal attached. The Apostille seal is the official seal of the Secretary of State from the state where the document wash originally issued to certify its use in a foreign country. This is not the same as a notary public stamp. The process of obtaining an Apostille is done via mail. Call your Secretary of State's Notary Public to find out the mailing address and forward your documents to them with a small fee (if applicable) for processing. Once complete, the original documents will be returned to you with the seal. You do not have to do anything in person. You should plan additional time to complete this process prior to travel.
• Birth and death certificates submitted with the marriage application remain on file and will not be returned to you.
