Vacations to the Netherlands

The Dutch countryside is a postcard of predictable and precious images. There are wooden shoes hanging in the local market; huge rounds of cheese being weighed in the town square; bicyclists peddling past giant, graceful windmills standing stoically in the fields; shops decorated with traditional blue Delft tiles; and during the spring, fields filled with a riot of royal red tulips and yellow daffodils.
